Horse manure, cow dung, flies, and all of that together make up Maten-gai Cliff. If you don't like that, I recommend you don't come. There are so many things you can't tell from the pretty photos on the internet! Anyway, it's an amazing place, all things considered. I was speechless at the surreal scenery! The climb back up was tough, but it was a great memory.

This is one of Nishinoshima's most spectacular routes, allowing you to experience the magnificent nature of Kuniga Coast up close. Drawn in by the images overlooking Matengai Cliff, I challenged myself to complete the entire walking trail. I hiked from Kuniga Coast to Matengai Cliff and back. The scenery was so breathtaking that it made me forget my fatigue. I highly recommend visiting this place at least once in your lifetime. [Points to Note] * There is a lot of cow and horse dung. * Tick prevention is recommended. → Long pants and long sleeves are recommended. * It can be very windy on some days. * No vending machines or shops. * There is almost no shade in summer.

If you take a regular sightseeing bus that includes Matengai Cliff and Kuniga Coast, and get off at Matengai Cliff and pick up at Kuniga Coast, you can enjoy the scenery only on the downhill side without having to make a round trip. The downhill walk takes about an hour each way, but it's best to avoid heels or leather shoes, and those with knee problems should bring a cane or similar aid. If the weather is clear, you can enjoy the scenery exactly as it appears in the brochure.

I rented a car to tour Oki Island and really wanted to walk along Kuniga Coast, but the up-and-down walk on the promenade was tiring. So I parked the car at the Kuniga Coast Observatory parking lot, called a taxi, and took it to the Matengai Observatory parking lot. The taxi arrived in about 10 minutes, leisurely cruising uphill, and cost just under 1,000 yen. After that, I spent about an hour descending the promenade in a strong wind. I was surprised when a foal clung to me, but it was comfortable. It's a bit of an uphill climb from Tsutenkyo Bridge to the last parking lot. I think it's a good option for those who rent a car.
