The highest mountain on Chiburijima Island, offers a view of all Dozen Islands and Dozen Caldera. If the weather is good enough, you can see as far as the mainland and Mt Daisen. You can rent a car at the tourism information office, but it is not that difficult to just walk/hike and enjoy views of this small island. It took me 2,5 hours, but I also dropped by a buddhist temple and Ikku Shrine on the way there.
Perhaps my favorite lookout on Oki. From here you can see all 3 minor islands and the big island (on a clear day). If you're staying overnight on Chibu, it's a good place to go up and look at the stars. Just don't try it in the middle of a snowstorm.
While it was foggy when we've been there, still visible how nice the view is when the weather is clear.
Great view on the whole island as well as the other neighbouring islands!
I visited Chiburijima Island specifically to see this scenery. It's a landscape I'd love to gaze upon without a care in the world, for as long as time allows. The weather was beautiful that day, and I enjoyed a very pleasant hour-long stay.
You might encounter cows and horses blocking your path, but they'll move if you get close enough. Visit with plenty of time and a relaxed mind.
The scenery is breathtaking in every direction, so there's no need to selectively photograph just the most visually appealing parts. The actual scenery is far more beautiful than any photograph.
