A very impressive building with a nice garden outside that you can visit.
There are several traditional performances outside of the museum itself.
The museum is very impressive and has cool exhibitions and artifacts.
Unfortuantely there isn't a ton to see and not everything is in English.
Still, I recommend you visit and learn about Kyushu's history
This museum is everything you need to learn about local history, traditions, Japanese artifacts, and more. It had a little bit of everything in terms of different exhibits from inside and outside of Japan, which provided a an overwhelming amount of useful information. Highly recommend if you like museums and want to learn more about Japanese history.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Kyushu National Museum. It's a truly modern and stunningly designed building. The exhibits are fantastic, offering deep dives primarily into the art and history of Japan, Korea, and China. Despite being on a tight schedule, I was so captivated that I ended up spending almost three hours exploring the collections.
Great museum a must go to if you love history, pottery or archeology. If you go early or latte so you won't get the afternoon crowed, I was in off season so not sure it mattered when I went
There's 4 floor, the permanent exhibition are in the 4th floor and you need to buy ticket. There's also special exhibition in the 3rd floor but different tickets required. I only come to the permanent exhibition and it's still worth it. Area on the 1st floor are free to explore, there's cafe and area called Ajippa aka interactive area, looks interesting but sadly due to my limited time I didn't explore it.
I got 2 stamps one here, one in the 1st floor information area and another at permanent exhibition exit in the 4th floor.
