The park is conveniently located about 4 minutes by taxi from JR Furano Line's Bibaushi Station. It's situated along National Highway Route 237 between Furano and Asahikawa, making it accessible by car or public transportation. The exact address is 33 Go Nishi 8 Senkita, Kamifurano, Sorachi District, Hokkaido 071-0508.
The lavender fields are most spectacular during Hokkaido's summer season, typically from late June through early August when the flowers are in full bloom. During this period, visitors can enjoy the stunning purple landscape with the Tokachi Mountain Range as a dramatic backdrop. The park's elevated position provides excellent viewing opportunities from both ground level and the Ferris wheel.
The recommended sightseeing time is 1-3 hours, which allows visitors to fully experience the Trick Art Museum, ride the Ferris wheel for panoramic views, and explore the lavender fields and scenic overlooks. This duration provides enough time to take photographs with the interactive art installations and enjoy the mountain vistas without feeling rushed.
Besides the main attractions, the park features a souvenir shop and product shop where visitors can purchase local specialties and memorabilia. The facility also offers dining options including pork sagari (a local specialty) and gelato with original flavors.
Miyamatoge Art Park & Lavender Field is a lovely spot in Kamifurano, known for its seasonal lavender blooms and art displays. The park features a Ferris wheel and the Trick Art Museum, where visitors can enjoy unique, interactive exhibits. From here, you also get a beautiful view of Mt. Tokachi and Mt. Furano, adding to the area’s scenic charm. When we visited in winter, the park was closed, but even from the outside, we could admire the peaceful winter landscape and imagine how lively it must be during the warmer months.
Visited during summer on the way to Biei. Was a nice place to drop in to with a spot to buy icecream and take in the views. There was a souvenir shop and some food stands as well. We also had a ride on the Ferris wheel which the kids enjoyed. Overall was a good spot to have a look around.
Because of the bad weather, I chose to go indoors to this art museum. The staff were very friendly, especially Ms. Yamaguchi. I casually left my bag in a corner of the exhibition area, and she recognized it as mine, found me, and returned it to me. It's hard to imagine how troublesome it would have been if it had gone missing. I'm very grateful for her thoughtfulness and kindness.
The exhibitions inside were very interesting. There were many visual changes through the camera and the eye, and you could also take photos interacting with the paintings to create fun pictures.
Although it was a bit windy, the Ferris wheel was still operating. The package ticket cost 1500 yen, which felt like a great deal. Riding the Ferris wheel offered a beautiful view of the Furano area.
Today I tried making a glass. If you're not in a rush, I recommend spending 600 yen to get a souvenir of carving your own glass (the original price is 700 yen, but you can get a 100 yen discount with the museum's coupon). It's a great deal and a valuable souvenir.
There weren't many shops outside, but there were stalls belonging to sculptors and painters like Ayako Nagai. I was more interested in paintings, so I bought hand-painted magnets and small picture frames at the painter's shop. The painter's works mainly depicted the scenery of Furano, and the style was very warm. Each painting was unique. After visiting the museum, you can stroll around the shops outside; you might find something different there.
