The gondolas open early in the morning at 5:00am, but they often operate earlier, and during busy times there is a numbered ticket system, so it is advisable to arrive by 4:00am or 4:30am at the latest if possible. I arrived at around 4:40am and the gondola was already running, numbered 101, and I was able to board the gondola at around 5:20am. The view from the cloud walk on the deck jutting out from the cliff was fantastic, not only on the tower side but also on the west side of the valley, where the cloud sea covered the whole valley.

Not too good visibility on the day of travel, and the sign to the terrace is actually not too clear, which I actually missed the spot, and thought the cable car station was all of it. the Terrace takes a 10mins walk and passes a skii area that usually overlooked under snow, but the view is absolutely stunning!
This place will either be great or ordinary depending on your luck and the weather. We arrived at 0600 and there was already a queue of around 45 minutes to buy tickets and take the cable car up, so definitely plan ahead and check their website as it'll be updated with the probability of cloud formation and queue times.
Generally, the earlier the better as the clouds tend to dissipate even before 0800.
On a good day though, once you're up there it's a beautiful walk and experience to be above the clouds. You'll also get some fairly unique photos too.
Be there early, the queue started as early as 4+am, board the cable car at 5am. The rest is scenic top view. Unkai "cloud bed" experience is dependent on the weather luck.
A breathtaking experience! Even without the 'sea of clouds' (Unkai), the soft-serve ice cream shaped like a cloud is a must-try. Fantastic views and a unique spot for photos.
