A nice community and location. Mass was on Sunday 11am. Theres heater air coming from the ground too so no worries even in cold temperature. Beautiful architecture.
This church is wonderfully quiet and holy, perfect for reflection. The attached kindergarten gives it a strong, close community feel. One thing to note: there's no shop on site, so you can't buy holy water to take with you.
An interesting tale of how this church was first established and re-introduced to Japan. It has gone through many fires and now stand as a testament of acceptance and preservation.
Very nice scenary with the church in the picture.
Sitting on Motomachi with a lovely view of the city, the Hakodate Catholic church is pretty small but it's a beautiful church with a nice intricate interior and is usually open to anyone. You can come in and appreciate the tranquility inside and pray. No need to take off your shoes.
