I hiked Mount Yari starting early from Kamikōchi, spent the first night at Yarisawa Lodge, and continued the next day up to Yarigatake Sanso Lodge. From there, I climbed to the peak and spent the night at the lodge before descending all the way down to Shinhotaka Onsen the next day.
Although the route is well-marked and generally accessible, it became more challenging on the way back (especially since many of the mountain huts were closed during my visit. The final section to the summit is steep and exposed, requiring full focus. It’s not technically difficult, but it is dangerous: you must keep both hands on the chains and ladders at all times, and take each step carefully. Helmets can be rented at the lodge for ¥500 (around €3.00) and are highly recommended for this section.
Still, it was an incredible experience: the views are breathtaking, the trail is safe if you go prepared, and the sense of isolation at the top is unique.
Highly recommend this route to anyone in good physical shape and looking for an unforgettable adventure in the Japanese Alps.

I have been doing hiking for few years now. This is the best hike I have had as of now.
The path reminded of Hobbit habitat.
When you are reaching to campsite just below peak, every step is beautiful yet difficult to climb.
Peak: We ascended peak in morning and weather is good. It is not as scary as looks before climbing. It adventurous and scary to react the summit but the view is worth it.
