What other travelers are saying about Murakami City Skateboard Park
I’m not a skater, but this place is insane! Just built a couple of years ago to replace the one down the street that is dilapidated (but also worth checking out - huge half pipe and snowboard jumps!!).
Owned by the city, so pretty cheap to use, I believe. Also cool stuff for non skaters as well. The benefits of being a town with one of the first skateboarding olympians!!
It's good to have a place like this.
It's a large complex of a board and bouldering gym, which you don't see very often because it's an Olympic sport but not a very common one.
If there were a lot of people at a facility this size, it would be really difficult to play.
The kids are full of life, and the young street-style parents who look like they might be dancing or skating🛹 gather secretly at night in a place where they might get scolded to make things by hand. I thought it was really great that they could gather in a public facility with integrity.
Nice job, Murakami City! 👍

The facility is generally clean.
The receptionist was friendly and helpful, and told me I could take a tour on the second floor.
It was a weekday, right after opening, so it was empty, and there was one boy practicing.
There are courses that even non-advanced skiers can enjoy, so I'd like to come back with my board next time.
I was lucky enough to be able to see the practice on my way back from the hot springs. It was a weekday and the match was coming up soon, but I was able to see the practice.
