Came to this place for Kana Nishino’s arena tour last year, venue was in a good location (near JR Harajuku station and Meiji Jingu, could do some sightseeing there before the show hehe)
The sound was actually ok while she was performing, but really echo-ey during the quieter parts (like the MC sections). Also the pedestrian bridge can become super congested before/after the show, so gotta be really careful..
Went to Ayumi Hamasaki’s Countdown Live show last year and the place is amazing! What a great venue for shows, so organized and wide seats, very comfortable. And the sound inside the arena is incredible.
I'm writing about this venue in terms of concerts. I attended the recent World Happiness '26 music event and despite what some people report here I found the acoustics to be bad. All the performers I saw had the same sound problem - oppressive low end rumble. Pretty soon my ears started to suffer and I slipped out and over to Omotesando to buy some ear plugs. I've been to plenty of rock concerts in my time and I can say that this place sounds bad. With the curving metal roof it's hardly surprising. Aside from the unsuitability for concerts I agree that the building has a distinctive modernist form - In my opinion the '64 Olympic facilities should have been renovated and re-used for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. That would have been a bold and inspiring move.
This is an excellent venue for volleyball matches, and it ranks among my favorites in Japan. The restroom facilities are well-maintained and can accommodate a large number of visitors. The seating arrangement, especially the super seats, is well-organized. However, on rainy days, despite its proximity to the station, reaching the venue can be quite challenging.
Da-iCE was stunning and absolutely spectacular at this arena earlier this month! It’s a very large space and they were able to set up food and goods booths outside too 🥰 there are vending machines inside but the lines can get very long. very enjoyable and pleasant venue overall!
