Oishi Park was one of the absolute highlights of our Japan trip. Seeing Mount Fuji from there felt like experiencing it up close for the very first time. We were incredibly fortunate that the mountain was completely visible, as it's often hidden behind clouds for much of the year. Many locals and frequent visitors say you can only expect clear views on around 80–100 days annually, so we definitely felt lucky.
The park itself is beautiful, sitting along the northern shore of Lake Kawaguchi with stunning views of both the lake and Mount Fuji. The colorful flower gardens were a joy to walk through, and the lavender fields, which bloom in early summer, made the scenery even more special. The combination of purple lavender, the lake, and Japan's most iconic mountain is every bit as beautiful as the photos suggest.
It was a very hot day, so trying the famous lavender soft-serve ice cream was the perfect treat. It was refreshing, unique, and one of those little travel moments that you'll always remember.
If you're visiting the Fuji Five Lakes area, I can't recommend Oishi Park enough. It's peaceful, beautifully maintained, and offers one of the best panoramic views of Mount Fuji. For me, it wasn't just another sightseeing stop—it was the moment when Mount Fuji truly lived up to all the hype.
On a clear day, this is a fantastic spot to enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Fuji framed by beautiful lavender fields. The combination of the iconic mountain and the colorful flowers makes it a perfect location for photography.
The park also has a souvenir shop where you can grab coffee, ice cream, and other local treats while taking a break. If you head up to the upper floor, you'll be rewarded with an even better panoramic view of the surroundings.
The view from here is magnificent. The Nemophila fields in late May is very nice? There are also a few colourful flowers there still, even in late spring. Not too many people when we came, can get many unobstructed pics of Fujisan and the flower fields.
There is a nice souvenir shop nearby but too many people and quite pricey. There is also an ice cream store. It was delicious.
Ample parking space, and plenty toilets.
If you are planning a trip to Japan, **Oishi Park** at Lake Kawaguchi is an absolute must-visit destination. * **Strolling the Boardwalk:** The walk along the lake is peaceful and easy, making it accessible for everyone.

To get the best experience, try to arrive **early in the morning**. Mount Fuji is often "shy" and can be covered by clouds later in the day. Also, the park is free to enter, which is a wonderful bonus for budget travelers.
Overall, Oishi Park provides a sense of peace that is hard to find in the busy streets of Tokyo. Whether you are a professional photographer or just someone who loves nature, the view of Mount Fuji from here will stay in your memory forever. It is truly a magical place where nature's beauty is on full display.
Beautiful lake views, but timing is key!
Oishi Park offers an incredibly beautiful view of Lake Kawaguchiko, especially with the gorgeous seasonal flowers lining the lakeside promenade.
However, if you are visiting during the summer, keep in mind that Mount Fuji is highly elusive. If you arrive in the afternoon or evening, Mount Fuji is almost always completely hidden behind thick summer clouds and mist. If seeing the iconic peak is your main goal, it is highly recommended to come as early as possible in the morning!
On the bright side, the park is very lively and convenient. There are several local vendors selling delicious street food, snacks, and fresh seasonal fruits (the local grapes and peaches are a must-try!).
It is definitely a lovely, free-admission spot to relax, grab a bite, and enjoy the lakeside breeze, even if Fuji decides to hide in the afternoon.
