Newly opened railway museum. 500 yen per adult entry (childfare is 100 yen). You are to purchase the ticket at the entrance (Credit cards accepted). I am not exactly an enthusiast but definitely enjoyed some of the centry old trains to more modern ones. You can come onboard some of the trains and look at the pressure metres and other measurements, along with so many pipes and metal joints to work this large transport machine, which were indeed the engines of the logistics and economy. Very well maintained. The venue also has train simulator and other interesting app for kids to play with.
Very disappointed with our visit. I can’t believe they spent 2 years refurbishing this place only to be so disappointing.
Spring break so of course expect more people. We got there 45 minutes after opening time and already no reservations left for the train simulator.
Most of the trains you can’t enter or if you can, there’s nothing to do in it.
I don’t know who planned it but basically nothing to do for kids apart from a slide which was taken up by kindergarten kids from nearby kindergartens.
For this experience 1 adult and 1 kid paying ¥700 is very steep and absolutely not worth to drive out for.

Worth the visit for train geeks. The collection of restored steam locomotives is impressive. Unfortunately I could only stay for 30 minutes before they closed, but 1 hour is probably enough and I
plan to go back. The staff working there are very nice.👍
I never visited before the reconstruction but as others have stated, I think there is room for improvement. Like a working train model course inside, where there is plenty of room. That would be awesome.
And a train simulator booth for kids (and adults!) Maybe a small cafe/coffee shop. There is plenty of room for outdoor tables.

It's a small park with a bunch of locomotives. Worth a visit if you're interested in them!
(Mainly) outdoor train museum of sorts. It is aimed at children. There are a few steam locomotives you can explore as well as lots of coin operated rides. There is a shinkansen engine too, but when we visited (February 2018) it was closed for a repaint.
The mini train that goes around a track is good fun. There are a couple of displays inside including a model town that has runs on the half hour. A staff member narrates the train show. At the end a Thomas train and Anpanman train also run around the track.
It is only 100 yen into the park, but each ride costs a 100 or 200 yen to operate. There is free parking, but it is not the space right in front of the museum, although cars park there it is actually a no parking area. The parking is just past the park at the foot of the cliff.
