#Ritsurin #Garden is truly one of the most beautiful garden I have visited in #Takamatsu, #Japan. From the moment we stepped inside, we were amazed by beauty of the nature. With the lush green mountains creating a stunning backdrop, we were completely isolated from the world. Every path revealed another stunning view, making it impossible to stop taking photos🙈☺️
The ponds filled with graceful koi fish added to the garden's tranquil atmosphere. There was a sign indicating the name and brief explanations about the fish. One of the highlights was the traditional wooden boat tour, which offered a unique perspective of the garden and made us feel as though we had stepped back into Japan's Edo period.
This garden offers a place to slow down from the daily life and enjoy nature's generous offers. ln addition, there is a cute gift shop where you can buy nice souveniers as well as delicious ice cream. lf you like #chestnut, please try it, so good😋
What makes Ritsurin Garden special:
Japan's largest Cultural Property Garden - about 75 hectares total, including Mt. Shiun as borrowed scenery.
Six ponds & thirteen landscaped hills, designed for strolling with "one step, one view" scenery.
1,400 pine trees, with around 1,000 carefully hand-pruned for centuries.
Awarded Michelin Green Guide Japan ★★★, meaning "worth a special journey."
Design style: kaiyū-shiki (strolling garden) with Edo-period teahouses, stone arrangements, and ponds.
Ritsurin Garden (栗林公園 / Ritsurin Köen) is one of Japan's most beautiful and historically important strolling gardens, located in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. It's famous for its Edo-period design, 400 years of history, and stunning seasonal scenery.
Very beautiful garden. We spent hours there enjoying the nature.
- Ticket machine accepts cashless payment.
- Wheel chairs available & wheel chair-friendly.
- Toilets are clean and accessible around the area.
- 7 spots to collect cute stamps. Paper map for stamps available at the entrances.
Although it was raining all day the garden was a wonderful place to be in. You can also collect 8 stamps in different areas for a fun way to explore. The garden spans a wide area so you can easily spend 4 hours if you take it easy and stop for a tea or a treat.
Ritsurin Garden is not included in the 3 Great Gardens of Japan (Japan loves to have "3 Great" lists). While I wouldn't necessarily knock any of the great 3 off the list, Risturin could have very easily made the list as well.
Iconic moss covered stone lanterns, bonsai trees, sculpted gardens and flowers, ponds and rivers with stone crossings. Simply exquisite.
For me, the highlight was the odd building here and there astutely camouflaged into the surroundings to be unobtrusive. Genius
Shrubbery and Scenery Sinay says:
Get to the park early as crowds can be an issue in the spring, summer or autumn. Or come in late autumn to early spring when crowds abate somewhat.
Also, take note of how the surrounding mountains which are not a part of Ritsurin Park proper are blended into to make the garden seem more expansive.
