What other travelers are saying about Sapporo Beer Garden
The restaurant has a strict 2-hour dining limit for both buffet and à la carte orders. However, when we arrived, our group of 8 adults and 2 children was never informed about any time restriction.
We specifically chose premium à la carte items because we wanted to enjoy our food and drinks at a relaxed pace, without feeling rushed. We did not expect à la carte dining to have a time limit.
Throughout the meal, we continued ordering food normally. When we were close to the 2-hour mark, we placed additional orders. The staff accepted and served these orders without notifying us that our dining time was about to end.
As a result, we were unable to finish the food in time—especially grilled items, which require more time to prepare and cook. Shortly after the food was served, the staff informed us that our time was up and refused to extend our dining time, even though we had just received fresh items such as premium beef, pork, and seafood.
The staff explained that there was a reservation waiting, despite the fact that several tables were still available at that time.
Our total spending was approximately 95,000 yen, which made this experience even more disappointing. While we understand restaurant policies, clear and upfront communication is essential, especially for a large group ordering premium à la carte items. Had we been informed in advance, we would have planned our orders and pacing differently. Unfortunately, this visit did not meet our expectations due to the lack of transparency.

All-you-can-eat Genghis Khan grill. They offer pork, lamb, chicken, beef and some veggies. It was great enough, but as a Thai, we are so used to our Moo Krata that offers way more varieties in both ingredients and sauces. 😂
Anyway, was a good experience. The place was comfortable, the staff was friendly and attentive. The restroom was clean and great.
Note* the assortment plates of sausages, fried chicken, potatoes and stuff (i dont know how to call those dishes) are not refillable. Only one-time serve. But other ingredients like meat and basic veggies are.
An absolute must-visit when in Sapporo! The Sapporo Beer Garden delivers an amazing experience from start to finish and fully lives up to its reputation.
The atmosphere is fantastic — lively, warm, and full of character, with a great mix of locals and tourists. You really feel the history of Sapporo beer the moment you walk in. The staff were friendly, efficient, and very accommodating, even during busy periods.
The food was the real highlight. The Jingisukan (grilled lamb) was incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavour. Cooking it yourself on the grill adds to the experience, and everything paired perfectly with the fresh Sapporo beer. The beer itself was crisp, cold, and exceptionally smooth — easily some of the best draft beer you can get in Japan.
Portion sizes were generous, quality was excellent, and prices were very reasonable for such a famous venue. The all-you-can-drink option is great value if you’re planning to spend some time there, and the food options cater well to sharing.
Overall, this is more than just a meal — it’s a true Sapporo experience. Whether you’re a beer lover, a foodie, or just looking for a memorable night out, Sapporo Beer Garden should be at the top of your list. Highly recommended and would absolutely visit again! 🍺🔥
Had dinner at this restaurant after a visit to the museum. As with the other restaurants in the compound, this serves unlimited bbq and an option for unlimited Sapporo beer. Had a few during the museum visit hence opted for the non alcohol bbq buffet. Big mistake!
45mins of unlimited refills of meat and drinks meat comprises lamb/mutton, beef, pork or chicken. No fruit option are provided and feel like this restaurant is totally confused what cuisine it shld be serving. Saw kimchi (Korean) while bbq was on a mokata dish (Thai). The meat are of sub-par grade. Hence, bbq them will result in pretty hard meats. Only 1 sauce option is provided which is the Genghis Khan sauce. Truly did not enjoy it. Unlike the other yakiniku restaurants, there are no exhaust provided for each table. Hence, be prepared to smell like bbq meat after the meal. Crew staff were also not conversant in english. Truly surprised given most of the diners were english speaking foreigners. Price is also a tad high i.e. ¥4.8k per pax (¥5.8k with beer). Shouhd have opted for some other eats within this place.
Very good. Smoky. So need put your studf in the plastic bag to avoid smell on your coat and bags. The waitress is helpful explaining things to me.
Food is also good.
