The wombats rule. I was able to see Yuki-chan, Fuku-chan, and Wine-san in a single afternoon! They were all very playful and well cared for. Entrance to the zoo is free, but you should donate at one of the boxes at the park or just buy like 60000¥ worth of souvenirs at the gift shop like I did :)
The best time is mid-April to early May during the azalea blooming season when the 60,000 azalea bushes reach peak color. The annual Azalea Festival occurs during this period. The park is open year-round for hiking and visiting the zoo area.
Take the Hankyu Takarazuka Line from Osaka-Umeda Station to Ikeda Station (20 minutes). From Ikeda Station, walk 20 minutes to the park or take the Hankyu Bus to Gotenyama stop for a 5-minute walk.
Admission is free. Voluntary donations are requested during the Azalea Festival to support park maintenance.
The park contains a small zoo, a waterfall, walking trails, and a shrine dedicated to Urashima Taro. A pond associated with the Urashima Taro legend is also located within the grounds.
