Upon arrival in Sado Island on July 29,2025, my wife and I came here after lunch. I swam a bit. On July 30, 2025, we drove past and I saw the Sado logo, we took photos together. Just before our return to Niigata, my wife wanted to come here again and I took video clips and photos for her, as directed.
The beach is shallow for a long distance. It's better to wear sandals when going into the sea than to go barefoot.
At the start of the Obon festival, the "Shishigajo Festival" is held, with food stalls on the east side of the grounds next to the beach huts, events in the central area, and Nebuta floats on the west side. There are also beautiful fireworks starting at 6 PM.
I visited on August 11th, coinciding with the festival.
The sunset and evening glow were absolutely beautiful!
I was also able to see the fireworks up close from the beach.
*Unlike city fireworks displays, it wasn't crowded, allowing for a relaxed viewing experience.
Sawada is a beautiful town bathed in the glow of the setting sun, overlooking the winding bay of Minami-Sado. More than just a bus terminal for waiting and changing lines, it's a hidden gem for travelers.
The sea is beautiful and the toilets are Western-style and easy to use. The parking lot is also spacious and convenient.
Be careful, as there are homeless people begging for money!
