Wonderful place to enjoy lavender. They say it is the largest field of lavender in Japan. We got to pick a big bundle of it (for a small fee) to have some at home too. Wish they had more lavender flavored treats for sale in the food section of the festival though.
This park is situated near the Musashi-Ranzan station on Tobu Tojo line. This is the largest lavender flower field in Japan. Unfortunately we were not able to enter inside the flower field because of heavy rain but we enjoyed the flower from outside. Even from outside we were able to get the smell of lavender. Overall the field looks very nice
The lavender is still green, no sign of purple yet (May 29th 2019), but the lavender festival doesn't start until June 8th at which time they should be in bloom. This lavender field is the largest in the whole of Japan. Until last year it was the largest in Kanto, but local farmers planted additional lavender to make it the largest in the country. You can find more information on the Ranzan Tourism website in Japanese or the Saitama with Kids website in English. Official parking is about a 10 minute walk away in B&G pool.
I went during the lavender festival. When I got close, there were so many banners that I couldn't help but wonder what was going on. The parking lot is large, and the entrance is at the food stall area. The lavender fields were much larger than I expected, and it felt like there was more to see the further I walked. The blooming varied from area to area, but most seemed to be in full bloom. There were different varieties of lavender, and there was even an area with white flowers. The scent was wonderful and very relaxing. However, it was a hot day, and I walked more than I anticipated, so I regretted leaving my water bottle in the car. Heat protection is essential. There are shaded areas and an observation deck further inside.
Returning to the food stall area, I hesitated between lavender soft serve ice cream and lavender shaved ice, but I chose lavender shaved ice, which was delicious and refreshing on my parched throat.
Admission is free, but there is a donation; parking was 1000 yen.
