Tairyo Ichiba Nakaura was a really enjoyable stop in Sakaiminato, especially for seafood lovers. The market has a fun local fishing-port atmosphere with plenty of fresh crab, tuna and regional seafood specialties from the Sea of Japan.
Inside you’ll find grilled seafood, souvenirs, dried fish and many local products, while the restaurant area upstairs is a convenient place for a fresh seafood meal. The giant Kitaro statue outside also makes the place memorable and fits perfectly with the city’s anime atmosphere.
It is definitely touristy, but still feels more authentic and regional than many big-city markets. Great place to try local crab and enjoy the seafood culture of Sakaiminato.
