Takebe Yahata Onsen, Okayama

Takebe Yahata Onsen is a public hot spring facility located in the mountainous Takebe area at the northern end of Kita Ward in Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture. The facility takes advantage of its scenic riverside location along the clear Asahi River, surrounded by a mountain range rich in natural beauty. The Takebe region, with an area of approximately 89.53 square kilometers, is characterized by its hilly terrain and serves as a peaceful retreat from urban areas.

The onsen features a simple alkaline hot spring that is recognized for its therapeutic properties, particularly effective in treating various ailments. The facility showcases traditional Japanese bathing culture while providing modern amenities for both day visitors and overnight guests. The natural setting enhances the bathing experience, offering visitors a chance to relax while enjoying views of the surrounding landscape.

Visitors can experience multiple bathing options including a large public bath, an open-air bath, a sauna, a family bath, and a complimentary footbath. The facility accommodates day-trip bathers as well as overnight guests, with 2 guest rooms available with a combined capacity of 8 people. Beyond bathing, the complex includes a restaurant serving local cuisine, a specialty product shop, and a meeting room that can hold approximately 40 people. A hall capable of hosting 70 people is available for events with both Western and Japanese-style seating arrangements.

Day trip bathing costs 760 yen for adults and 400 yen for elementary school students, while infants and younger children enter free. The facility is located approximately 40 minutes by car from the Sanyo Expressway Okayama Interchange. Public transport users can take the JR Tsuyama Line to Fukuwatari Station, followed by a 10-minute walk or 15-minute walk to reach the facility.

Parking is available at the Yahata Onsenkyo parking lot, which accommodates 200 regular vehicles and is located a 1-minute walk from the facility. Two wheelchair-accessible parking spaces are available within the facility grounds. The shop accepts credit cards (JCB, VISA, Mastercard, American Express) and QR payments via PayPay.
