Not for the faint of heart, like literally! LOL I like walking and been to Japan for like 3 times and my walk to here from Kami-Suwa station was the hardest I wanted to give up half-way. My fault though, since I am not used to the slope and climbing. Not sure if there’s a bus ride, though, I never thought of the option since it was only less than 2KM on maps. Didn’t see that there were a lot of stairs! Anyway, the view on top is amazing of course, it was all worth it. It was one of the locations inspiring the overlooking town featured in Kimi no Na wa that’s why I was interested, though not particularly a fan. Was there in the first week of February that’s why almost half of the lake was frozen. Worth the climb and gasping for air. There was nothing much, like stores or anything fun at the park aside from a tiny playground for local children, peaceful seats for viewing so don’t expect much. I think watching the sunrise or the sunset from here would be amazing; I came here at noon.

Absolutely beautiful! I ended up sitting here for 2.5 hours and it was one of my highlights from Japan. Definitely check Sunset time beforehand and get there early because it does get a little packed around then. I took a taxi up because it’s a steep hike up and I walked down, hike down is also steep and dark if you leave after the sun sets, because it’s the countryside there aren’t street lights everywhere so have a small flashlight handy. I went in May and even though it was hot during the day it go pretty chilly at night so bring a jacket or cardigan. I would definitely come here again and see the sunrise next time!

I went to this place on 2026/05/09 to watch the sunset. But there was a queue of cars about 3km away. The roads are very narrow. Parking spaces are limited. I had to pay 2000 yen to park that day, but I had to wait in line for a long time. But the view was very beautiful. There were a lot of people.

Visited on a public holiday to see the autumn leaves (紅葉). The parking lot was almost full, and waiting on the road might bother other drivers, so it’s better to avoid that. There’s a beautiful panoramic view of Suwa City and the lake from here.

Need a lot of effort to go here. Better if you take a car. If not, the hike up to the park is quite long and steep. I prefer took a cab up and walking down. I walk down right after sunset so it’s not too dark on the street. It’s a good decision because I could catch the blue hour on the way down and it was so pretty. This is the location of Itomori from anime Kimi no Nawa. Very beautiful during sunset.
