What other travelers are saying about Tsukuba Wanwan Land
If you are a dog/cat lover. This place is for you. Affordable, clean and their animals are well-trained. You can also rent any available dog they have to walk around for 30mins. My youngest super adore this place🐶🐱.
It’s a place for immersing yourself with dogs, but not much interaction is possible beyond cuddles. They should have provided toys so visitors can actually play with the dogs. There is a show to enjoy, though. So I would say, if you want a real ‘playing with dogs’ experience, go to a dog café instead.
Oh, and the smell is bad in many areas, so wear something you wouldn’t mind getting dirty.
A dog cat park. There are many dogs and cats. Their living conditions were ok. You can rent a dog for 20 mins at the cost of around 1000 yen extra. Entry fee for adult is 1000 yen. If you are coming from Tsukuba center, you can take hokubo shuttle bus and get down at Namuta stop. It is front of the bus stop. There is parking lot too.
Normally I get nervous when it comes to zoos and animal activities in Japan as they don't always have the best animal care. This place however, the dogs seem happy and healthy. It was very fun to get some much needed dog time in and roam around the park.
dog HEAVEN
2000¥ to go in and you can rent a dog for 20m for 1000¥
had so much fun would definitely recommend if you're a dog person! (there's a cat area too)
Yes, visitors are welcome to bring their own dogs to the park at no extra charge. However, dogs must be kept on a leash throughout the park, except in the designated large dog run space. This allows your pet to socialize with other dogs while maintaining safety and control.
The dog rental service costs approximately 1,000 yen and allows you to walk with your chosen dog for 20 minutes. This service is separate from the admission fee and gives visitors a chance to enjoy one-on-one time with their favorite breed on the park's grassy plaza.
The park houses approximately 1,000 dogs representing 90 breeds and 70 cats from 40 breeds. Visitors can interact with dogs in the Fureai Hiroba petting areas, which are separated into sections for large and small dogs. The Neko House, renovated in April 2024, allows visitors to observe cats spending time freely.
From Tokyo, take the Tsukuba Express from Akihabara Station to Tsukuba Station, then board the Tsukuba Bus Northern Shuttle for approximately 45 minutes. Alternatively, take the Kantetsu Bus from JR Tsuchiura Station, requiring about 40 minutes. By car, the park is accessible via the Joban Expressway, taking about 35 minutes from the Tsuchiura-Kita Interchange.
