I Drove up. Wanted to go up on the tower. Operations just shut down due to high winds. Was still nice. Did notice the Ropeway. look super nice though. Nice restaurant at the top.
Walking through the forest was relaxing, and very spiritual. The further you walk the greater you feel the enchanting connection with Yahiko Mountain. Riding to the top is exhilarating. The view from the summit is grand epic and panoramic. You will definitely enjoy the view.
The way to the station is not easy to find. The entrance is actually next to the carpark and need to walk 10 mins thru the country trail. After getting up to the mountain, you can walk to a temple in 700m. There is also a restaurant at the top of mountain that not far away from the terminal. It is highly recommend to those who travel to Niigata.
Wonderful and friendly staff. There are a lot of stairs, so be ready. Amazing view of the villages, sea, and the island. There is a shuttle bus from the parking lot to the gondola entrance. You can also hike the mountain if you want. There is a restaurant at the top.
This is a beautiful ropeway. The journey starts at the yahiko shrine, which has shuttle bus to the ropeway station. The ride is about 10 minutes, but the scenic view is fabulous. The view will change according to the season so choose for yourself which season you want to visit.
Yahikoyama Ropeway operates daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (extended hours during peak seasons). Adult tickets cost 420 yen one-way or 770 yen round-trip, while children (elementary school) pay 210 yen one-way or 390 yen round-trip. The ropeway connects the base station to Mount Yahiko summit in approximately 5 minutes.
From Niigata city, take the JR Echigo Line to Yahiko Station (about 50 minutes). From Yahiko Station, it's a 25-minute walk or 5-minute taxi ride to the Yahikoyama Ropeway base station. The ropeway is located near Yahiko Shrine in Yahiko village, making it easily accessible by public transportation.
