The center is accessible by bus or taxi from Yakushima Airport or the Miyanoura Port. There are also rental car options available on the island for more flexibility in travel.
Visitors can explore exhibits on Yakushima’s biodiversity, learn about local conservation efforts, view displays on traditional culture, and participate in educational workshops and programs.
Yes, there is parking available for visitors. The center provides both regular and disabled parking spaces. Public transportation options are also available if you prefer not to drive.
There is a very large movie screen where there are two different movies displayed. I saw the one about the nature of Yakushima. It was quite impressive. There is also a museum with infos about the island and a gift shop with Japanese Cedar fragrance oils on sale.
This is actually a really nice and useful place to visit if you’re in Yakushima as a tourist. Lots of useful information (and free brochures to take away for things like walks, buses, magazines with sightseeing information). There’s also a good bookshop for local yakushima books (pretty much all in Japanese), a little shop of local products, a museum (also mainly only for those who can read Japanese). And some great STAMPS for those who are doing a stamp rally - I got six different ones! Next door there is also a north face shop which is useful for any last minute outdoor gear required.
The building design attracts us to stop a while for taking photos. Inside is a tourist centre with a small souvenir shop, I found a nice handmade bookmark set made by a thin old cedar piece with a lovely little floral piece on top. It is only available in this shop.
If you here in Yakushima than must visit this place.
