Yume no Tsuribashi Suspension Bridge is a destination that feels straight out of a fantasy. Spanning 90 meters across the vivid blue waters of the Sumatakyo Gorge, this narrow, swaying bridge draws adventurers from all over. It’s known for its stunning setting—the bridge hangs delicately above a reservoir whose water takes on an almost otherworldly turquoise hue, thanks to the minerals in the surrounding rocks.

Walking across the bridge is an experience like no other. The slight sway with each step adds excitement, while the breathtaking view of the emerald water below and the lush greenery surrounding the gorge create a serene yet thrilling atmosphere. Early mornings here are particularly enchanting, as mist often rises from the water, shrouding the area in a soft, ethereal glow.

Yume no Tsuribashi is especially popular in autumn when the forest surrounding the gorge transforms into a vibrant palette of reds, oranges, and yellows. This seasonal change makes the contrast between the colorful foliage and the turquoise water even more striking, turning the entire scene into a photographer’s dream.

What other travelers are saying about Yume no Tsuribashi Suspension Bridge

📍 Yume no Tsuribashi Suspension Bridge – Sumatakyo, Shizuoka, Japan 🇯🇵 We visited on 16 November 2025, and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking — turquoise water 💙, a deep valley wrapped in autumn colours 🍁, and a beautifully swaying suspension bridge that made the experience unforgettable. Before reaching the village entrance, there is an information booth. Registration is required only for hikers entering the longer trails. If you’re just visiting the village, no registration is needed. From the village, it’s about a 30-minute walk to the entrance gate of Yume no Tsuribashi. At the gate, you pay 500 yen per person at the counter 🎫. We waited around 40 minutes before our turn to cross the dream bridge. Security staff will control the number of people crossing for safety. The suspension bridge is one-way only, so once you cross, you must follow the designated trail. This includes a climb of 304 staircases up the hillside. After the climb, there is a small observation deck where you can enjoy an elevated view of the stunning turquoise lake. From the observation deck, continue along the trail and head toward Hiryu Bridge (飛龍橋) to complete the loop. The path eventually leads you back down to the village, making it a full circular route — a very enjoyable and scenic hike. Travel tips: • Arrive early to avoid peak crowding. • A good plan is to arrive morning till 1 PM, walk, queue, cross, then have lunch after, before the sunlight fades. • Crossing around 3 PM offers the best lighting as the sun hits the water beautifully without being blocked by valley cliffs. And the sunlight fades across the lake, and this softer light actually turns the water into a richer, deeper turquoise color, making the scenery even more magical. The entire trail is peaceful, refreshing, and especially beautiful in autumn, when the crisp air and colours make the whole valley feel magical. A truly memorable and unique nature spot in Shizuoka — perfect for scenic lovers, hikers, and photography enthusiasts. 🙌✨

I arrived late in the day, but it was still beautiful and very windy; I don't know if that's because it was winter. I was a little sad that I couldn't see the blue of the lake, perhaps because it was already late afternoon, close to closing time for visitors.

A very nice looking bridge. Be careful if you want to go in the evening. The last entrance for the bridge is much earlier than 5 pm we went there at 4 pm and it was already too late. So we are able to go around to the other metal bridge. The entrance fee is 500 Yen.

Absolutely stunning view, the drive to reach the place is very challenging and you have to show your driving skills as the road (curves)in mountains are very narrow and sometimes only one vehicle can pass at a time ,DRIVE ONLY IF YOU ARE A GOOD DRIVER , the place and the suspension bridge looked more beautiful as it is seen in photos ,some hard climbing after crossing it but one can sacrifice for this beautiful view . Definitely worth on a good sunny day ,
