What other travelers are saying about Mandarake Akihabara Complex
Superb selection and service! Lots of rare art books and materials for good prices. The model kit section was very cool too! I had a great time here with a friend, and recommend it highly to anyone interested in Gundam or anime.
GREAT for fans of popular IPs.
I'm a Dragonball fan, so seeing original run JUMP magazines of the Goku vs Tenshinhan fight made me SUPER happy. I picked up a copy of the Diazenshyuu, an animation guide, and my Uncle found some awesome things for himself.
There's two complexes, this one focusses more on the manga side of things, with the top floors being 18+ (It is Japan, I was silly not to expect this )
Friendly and helpful staff, an interesting atmosphere, and LOTS of awesome stuff that would be a hard find in the US or elsewhere.
Incredible collection of various degrees of tat or treasures. Multiple levels and two buildings. Lifts are slow, and stairs potentially exhausting (about 8 floors on each building). Staff were helpful in finding the right floor/building for the item I was after. When I eventually found my treasure, the floor assistant was extremely helpful in testing/checking the piece.
Each floor is effectively unique, and items must be bought and paid for on the floor they are found.
It can be quite tight manoeuvring around the shelves and cases, especially when busy.
Best advice is to have an idea what you are looking for, check the floor menu, if not clear "ask", and then browse on the way out... or just run with your old treasure.
Staff I spoke to all spoke English to a good level.
A better floor plan and description of the type of items stocked would be useful. And potentially avoid having to ask the first question, "where do I go for..."
Amazing service! Despite the warnings about shipping delays from Japan, the order was delivered to Spain in only 5 days via EMS. The figure was well-protected and arrived in perfect condition. Highly recommended store!
Great store full of amazing figures at amazing prices. went there and picked up a mafex no.188 batman and a revoltech mk6 iron man for a total of ¥9900!
Visitors can find old and new manga, anime DVDs, action figures, model kits, cosplay costumes, doujinshi (fan-made comics), animation cels, trading cards, and rare collectibles. Some items are highly valuable and sought after by collectors.
Yes, it is one of the best places in Japan for collectors. The store offers hard-to-find, out-of-print, and limited-edition items, including rare manga and vintage anime merchandise.
Prices vary widely. Some common second-hand manga and figures are affordable, but rare and vintage items can be very expensive. Limited-edition collectibles and signed merchandise often cost more.
