Lunch is not included. A break of approximately 1 hour is provided near Katamachi in Fukui City. Your guide will suggest local restaurants. Fukui City specialties include Echizen soba noodles and katsu, a locally popular fried pork cutlet.
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended year-round, as the tour involves a climb up the Atagozaka slope staircases. In winter, warm and waterproof clothing is essential as temperatures can drop to or below 0 degrees Celsius, and snow is possible. A light jacket and rain protection are advisable in all other seasons.
The tour involves several hours of walking across Fukui City, including flat castle grounds, temple paths, and the Atagozaka slope staircases. The terrain at Eiheiji Temple includes some steps and uneven surfaces within the complex. Comfortable, sturdy footwear is strongly recommended.
Eiheijii is a great and unique experience. We recommend that tour.
Michael is knowledgable; attentive and made de day easy going, In fact very well organized. No delay at all. He had all answers to our questions. Fukui is great place to visit however half a day is a little too much. Eiheijii: half a day is perfect.
