An izakaya is a Japanese-style gastropub that serves small plates and drinks in a casual, social setting. It’s a popular place for locals to gather after work to enjoy food, sake, and conversation. On this tour, you’ll visit selected izakaya in Shinjuku and sample a variety of traditional dishes and drinks.
The tour lasts approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes and begins at 5:00 PM. It includes 14+ food tastings at four local izakaya, along with three drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). A bilingual guide leads a walking tour through Shinjuku’s popular landmarks and hidden spots.
Dietary requests must be submitted at least one week before the tour date. Last-minute requests cannot be accommodated. Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are limited.
The tour accommodates up to 10 participants. A minimum of two people is required for the tour to operate.
The tour is open to participants of all ages. However, some venues may allow smoking. Guests must be at least 20 years old to consume alcohol in Japan.
