Arrive at Koshinan, a calm garden tea house where your kind hosts greet you. They will tell you about the history, meaning, and manners of the Japanese tea ceremony in a simple, friendly way — perfect for first-time visitors.

Enjoy Sweets and Watch a Demo

Duration: 40 minutes

Relax and taste beautifully made seasonal Japanese sweets. Then, watch your hosts perform a real tea ceremony. You’ll see how matcha is prepared step by step, with care and grace, while enjoying the peaceful garden atmosphere.

Seasonal Japanese Lunch

Duration: 50 minutes

Sit down to a freshly made Japanese lunch using seasonal ingredients. Enjoy the flavors and presentation while taking in the quiet and natural beauty of the tea house garden.

Try Making Tea Yourself

Duration: 40 minutes

Now it’s your turn to make tea. Your hosts will show you how to whisk matcha using traditional tools. Everyone takes turns making a bowl of tea for each other and enjoying the one made for them — a lovely way to share and connect.

Closing and Farewell

Duration: 20 minutes

End the experience with a few calm moments in the garden. Your hosts will thank you and say goodbye, leaving you with peaceful memories of this special time in Tokyo.

Then, you’ll have a freshly prepared Japanese lunch before trying your hand at whisking matcha tea yourself. The experience ends with quiet time in the garden and a warm farewell from your hosts.

Comfortable and modest clothing is recommended. Since the tea house has tatami flooring, it’s best to wear clothes that allow easy movement. A small gift of white socks will be provided to wear during the ceremony.

A 100% cancellation fee applies if you cancel within 3 days of your scheduled experience. It’s best to contact the host as early as possible if your plans change.
