Kamikochi & Matsumoto Castle 1-Day Tour from Nagano and Matsumoto

Meet at the main entrance of the hotel. This is an early pickup point, so please be ready in advance to ensure a smooth departure.

Meet inside the station, in front of the large information board located directly across from the Shinkansen ticket gates. The tour will depart shortly after, so timely arrival is important.

Meet at the West Exit of the station, in front of the taxi stand. This is the final pickup point before the tour continues to the first destination.

Arrive at one of Japan’s most important original castles. During the guided visit, explore the castle grounds and step inside to climb its six floors. Along the way, learn about its history, defensive design, and the life of samurai through displayed weapons and artifacts. From the top, enjoy wide views over the city.

Continue to this charming street beside the river, known for its frog theme and local character. Walk past small shops, traditional snacks, and unique souvenirs. You will have free time here to explore, try local treats, visit a nearby shrine, and purchase your own lunch before the next part of the journey.

Reach Kamikochi, located about 1500 meters above sea level in a protected alpine valley. Begin at Taisho Pond, formed by volcanic activity over 100 years ago, and start a guided walk along the Azusa River. The trail is mostly flat and easy, allowing you to enjoy the peaceful scenery, clear water, and surrounding mountain peaks.

Follow the scenic path through the valley toward Kappa Bridge, one of the most famous viewpoints in Kamikochi. Along the way, take in the fresh air and natural beauty of the area, with views gradually opening up to reveal the surrounding mountains.

After reaching Kappa Bridge, enjoy free time to explore as you wish. You can relax by the river, visit local cafes, shop for souvenirs, or continue walking further into the valley. This is your chance to fully enjoy one of Japan’s most scenic natural areas.

The tour concludes at Matsumoto Station, with an expected arrival in the early evening.
