How to Spend Your Arrival Day in Shinagawa (From Haneda or Narita Airport)

If you're arriving in Japan through Haneda or Narita Airport and heading to Shinagawa, this guide will help you make the most of your first day. 

Whether you’re feeling energetic or just want to settle in slowly, this plan includes easy directions, relaxing spots, and tasty food options (including vegan-friendly ones). It's the perfect way to start your trip without feeling rushed.

Take a Train to Shinagawa Station

From Haneda Airport:

Take the Keikyu Line (Airport Express or Limited Express)

  • Travel time: about 20–25 minutes

  • Fare: Around ¥300–¥400

  • Where to board: From the Keikyu Line station inside the Haneda International Terminal.

From Narita Airport:

Option 1: Narita Express (N’EX)

Take the Narita Express train directly to Shinagawa Station. (Covered by JR Pass)

  • Travel Time: About 70 minutes

  • Fare: Around ¥3,000

Option 2: Keisei Skyliner + Local Train

Take the Keisei Skyliner to Nippori Station, then transfer to the JR Yamanote Line to Shinagawa.

  • Travel Time: Around 80–90 minutes

  • Fare: Around ¥2,700 total

Traveler’s Tip: Buy a Suica or PASMO card at the airport for convenient train travel in Tokyo. These can be used for most transport and even vending machines!

Drop Off Your Luggage at Shinagawa

After arriving at Shinagawa Station, you can lighten your load by dropping your bags at one of these places:
