Dynaland

Dynaland is located in the northern area of Gujo city in the central region of Gifu Prefecture, positioned on the eastern slopes of Mt Dainichi, part of the Ryohaku mountain range. The resort has been operating since 1972, establishing itself as one of western Japan's premier winter destinations. It is lift and course-connected with the Takasu Snow Park resort and a shared lift ticket is available, creating an expansive skiing area known as "Dantotsu."

The resort's significance lies in its scale and accessibility. Dynaland boasts a total of 18 courses that cater to all skill levels, from gentle slopes suitable for beginners to challenging tree skiing areas for advanced enthusiasts. The longest run extends 3,200 meters, offering sustained downhill experiences. The resort operates at elevations between 984 and 1,431 meters, with 6 lifts transporting guests efficiently across the mountain. What distinguishes Dynaland is its extended operating hours, with night skiing available until 11pm every day during the winter season and early morning operations starting at 5am on weekends and holidays.

Visitors can experience diverse winter activities beyond standard skiing and snowboarding. The family-friendly Baboon area includes dedicated sledding slopes with moving walkways and indoor play facilities. The resort maintains specialized snowboard parks with half-pipes, rails, and jumps that attract both beginners and skilled riders.

A day-care center is available for children who cannot ski yet, staffed by professionals who can supervise infants through older children. Equipment rental services provide complete packages including skis, snowboards, boots, clothing, and accessories. The directly managed hotel Villa Mont Saint is located just 5 minutes on foot from the slopes, offering convenient accommodation.

The resort is approximately 1.5 hours by car from Nagoya, making it a popular destination for visitors from the Kansai region including Osaka, Kyoto, and Nagoya. By car, the resort is 10 minutes from Takasu IC of Tokai Hokuriku Expressway. Direct tour buses operate daily from JR Nagoya Station, departing around 7:50am and returning around 5:10pm.

For those using public transportation, the route involves taking the train to Mino-shirotori station, then connecting via Shirotori Kotsu Bus to the Dainichidake bus stop, followed by a free shuttle bus to the resort. A one-day lift ticket costs approximately 4,500 yen for Dynaland, while the combined Takasu and Dynaland pass provides access to both connected resorts. Additional charges apply for the Baboon family area (1,000 yen per day) and equipment rentals. Free parking is available for those arriving by car.
