This was my first time snowboarding in Japan, which I went in Feb 2025 and I had a great experience at this resort. The slopes were gentle and wide, making them perfect for beginner to intermediate snowboarders, while still being fun and confidence-boosting. The scenery was absolutely beautiful, which made riding even more enjoyable. I also liked the food options—good quality and reasonably priced for a ski resort. While the area wasn’t very English-friendly, it was still easy enough to get by, and everyone was helpful. Overall, it was a memorable first snowboarding experience in Japan, and I would definitely love to come back again.
Not as crowded as other nearby ski resorts, which makes skiing there a little more relaxed. It is aimed mostly at the beginner to low-intermediate skier. Great place to learn skiing or snowboarding as the runs are very wide and gentle. There are several restaurants. Lift tickets are also not expensive. Highly recommended for those learning or getting back into skiing.
The journey from Tokyo takes approximately 3 hours.
Tickets can be purchased at vending machines.
The gondola ride to the mountaintop is for skiing only; if you don't ski, you can use the slides (included in the entrance fee).
There's a food court, lockers available for rent until 4 pm, ski equipment for rent, and a convenience store.
Sunglasses are essential as the sun is very bright and can be blinding.
Definitely one of the better experiences skiing in Japan. This resort is particularly suitable for beginners to intermediates who want to practice without fear. Plenty of restaurants to choose from right down the slopes, unlike Hakuba you know.

Ski trails are wide and straight, suitable for skills practice. It has 20 trails of different difficulties where everyone from beginners to advanced players can enjoy. Night ski is available till 7pm. Free shuttle bus from and to Echigo Yuzawa Station.
