📍 Lake Kawaguchi Maple Corridor
河口湖もみじ回廊 @ Yamanashi, Japan 🇯🇵
We visited the Lake Kawaguchi Maple Corridor (もみじ回廊) twice on 18 November 2025 — first around 3:30pm, and again at 7pm after dinner.
In the afternoon, the corridor was peaceful and beautifully coloured. The soft sunlight highlighted the red and golden maple leaves, giving the riverside walkway a warm tone. The tall maple trees lining the stream created a calm, scenic path perfect for strolling and photography. Even though the peak season had passed, the remaining foliage still looked charming and atmospheric.
We returned again at 7pm to see the illumination, and it felt like a completely different experience. The maple trees were lit up softly, creating a glowing tunnel of autumn colours. The reflections on the water and the cool evening air made the walk very relaxing. The illuminated leaves looked vibrant and magical, offering beautiful night-time scenery.
A picturesque maple corridor — peaceful in the afternoon and beautifully illuminated at night, making it worth visiting twice in one day. 🍁✨🗻

Lake Kawaguchi Maple Corridor is a very beautiful place to see red maple leaves in autumn. I came here during the Maple Festival (Momiji Matsuri), and the view was really amazing.
The maple leaves are very red, and the whole corridor feels colorful and alive. It is very crowded, especially during festival time, so be ready for many people. Still, the atmosphere is worth it.
At night, there are many lamp lights along the corridor, which makes the place look even more beautiful and a bit magical. Walking here at night feels different, more calm but still lively.
If you come to Lake Kawaguchi in autumn, you really should visit this place. Busy, yes, but very memorable and beautiful. No ticket needed.
The autumn colours are at their peak, with deep reds, fiery oranges, and golden yellows lining the lakefront. The famous momiji trees create long tunnels of colour, and their reflections ripple beautifully across the calm water. The crisp November air adds a refreshing clarity that makes everything feel sharper, cleaner, and more vibrant.
One of the highlights is the small collection of food trucks and stalls near the lake. They serve warm, comforting seasonal treats—think sweet potato snacks, freshly grilled corn, takoyaki, and hot matcha drinks. The aroma alone creates a cosy atmosphere, making it easy to relax and enjoy the scenery while snacking on something delicious.
Of course, the star of the show is Mount Fuji. In November, the visibility is usually excellent. Fuji appears with a pristine snow cap, perfectly framed above the lake. The contrast of the mountain’s white peak against the autumn foliage is unforgettable. Whether you’re strolling along the lakeshore or sitting by a food truck with a warm drink, the view feels almost unreal.
Overall, November at Lake Kawaguchi is a peaceful, colourful, and breathtaking experience.
a very beautiful place (it's free), must visit during autumn. around many places to eat no need to worry, and remember the last bus to kawaguchiko is at 6 pm. we were late to find out, so we walked from here to the hotel with a temperature of 5° at 8 pm 🥶🥶 for 40 minutes, what an unforgettable experience 🤣🤣🤣
Beautiful spot for autumn leaves! The Maple Corridor in Kawaguchiko is stunning, especially in mid-November when the colors are at their peak. The path lined with maple trees is perfect for photos, and on clear days you can see Mt. Fuji in the background. It can get quite crowded during the festival, but the atmosphere is amazing—especially at night with the illumination. Definitely a must-visit during autumn.
