A Must-Visit for Fans, But Watch the Price Tags!
I just visited the Kotobukiya store in Akihabara for the second time—my first trip was back in 2019—and once again, it was a really pleasant experience.
Just like other major hobby shops in Tokyo or the spots you’d find in Nakano Broadway, this place is an absolute paradise if you're into model kits, figures, or merch. Across its four floors, they have pretty much everything you could think of, ranging from Final Fantasy goods to Frame Arms and all kinds of idol figures. The variety is honestly impressive.
The only real downside is the pricing. The items here definitely command a premium compared to other shops around Akihabara. That said, since it’s an official Kotobukiya flagship store, it’s kind of to be expected. Because of the higher prices, I didn't actually end up buying anything this time around. For instance, I was on the lookout for some model kits from the Hexa Gear series and managed to find them significantly cheaper in other nearby hobby stores, so I bought them there instead.
Still, if you’ve never been before, it is 100% worth checking out. And if you’re a die-hard Kotobukiya fan who wants to support the brand directly, it’s a fantastic place to shop. The selection is massive, and if you aren't careful, you could easily drop a lot of money here!
This place is not too big, but you can find a lot of merchandise from games and anime, most of the items sold here you cannot find in bigger stores, don't know why, but maybe it's because it's not a store for everyone. It was well organized.
A lot of items found in Gachapons are sold here separately, so it's better for me to buy something for 600 yen, than to try my luck and spend 1200 yen. I can return here again to check the soundtracks.
The only thing I remember is, there are tons of vtuber merchandise. One floor dedicated to Nijisanji and another to Hololive. I don’t remember anything else. If you are a vtuber fan, check it out.
Kotobukiya Akihabara is a must-visit for fans of figures, model kits, and collectible toys. The store has multiple floors packed with detailed figures from anime, games, and popular Japanese franchises, making it a paradise for collectors.
The displays are well organized, and it’s fun to browse and see all the latest releases up close. Prices can be a bit high for rare items, but the selection and quality make it worth checking out. Whether you’re shopping or just looking, Kotobukiya is a great stop in Akihabara.
A great store with a wide and excellent selection of popular anime figures, game merchandise, plushies, and an assortment of toys and goods.
As a group of 4 adults and 2 children with different preferences, we all had a great experience here.
Certainly worth a visit for people who are interested in these types of products, or looking for something in particular.
