Minoo Park

Minoo Park is a serene natural haven known for its rich landscapes and cultural sites. Established in 1967, the park spans approximately 963 hectares, offering a diverse array of attractions for visitors.

The highlight of the park is Minoo Falls, a stunning 33-meter waterfall. The falls are accessible via a picturesque 3-kilometer hiking trail that winds through dense forests. This trail, lined with tall cedar and maple trees, provides a refreshing escape from the urban hustle. In autumn, the park is especially popular as the maple trees turn vibrant shades of red and orange, creating a spectacular sight.

Minoo Park is also home to a variety of wildlife, including wild monkeys. These monkeys can often be seen along the trails, adding an element of surprise and delight to the visit. It's best to observe them from a distance and not feed them.

In addition to its natural beauty, the park houses historical and cultural landmarks. Ryuanji Temple, dating back to the 7th century, offers a glimpse into Japan's spiritual heritage. This ancient Buddhist temple is a peaceful spot, perfect for reflection.

For a unique culinary experience, try the park's famous maple leaf tempura. These sweet, crispy treats are made by deep-frying real maple leaves, a local delicacy you won't find elsewhere.

What other travelers are saying about Minoo Park

One of the most beautiful trails I've come across since moving to Japan. The main path is fairly easy to walk but if you want something a little more strenuous, take one of the side paths. These side trails have little secret scenic spots that are worth a detour.

Wonderful spot to be one with nature in a modern city like Osaka. The foliage is soooo beautiful 😍 Got to see a combination of greens, yellows, oranges and reds plus a refreshing falls at the end. This park despite being so raw is extremely accessible. Paved all the way, saw a lot of parents with strollers, seniors loving the hike and even one on electric wheelchair!

This place is heaven on earth! Don’t let my pictures fool you, it much more beautiful and stunning than my camera can capture. I went to the park in an evening, weekdays, autumn, the leaf was yellow-red, luckily it was magic hours where the sky is colored with orange, pink, and yellow. The atmosphere was beyond my words, it peaceful yet lively also cozy. You can always hear the sound of river flows everywhere. People are nice and you can feel the vibrant of life in the air. Highly recommended.
Walking the trail to the waterfall in Minoh National Park remains one of our best memories of our maiden trip to Japan. This was made all the more special that it snowed gently on our way down. We overheard some locals exclaiming it was the first snow in that area. Loved everything about it. The nature, the scenery, the serenity. We will definitely be back there the next time we travel to Osaka.

Very peaceful hike. Went on a weekday around noon. Not very busy at all. Took our time and enjoyed the scenery, the temple along the way, and the waterfall. The main path is paved so it's easily accessible. Food and restrooms are along the way if needed.
