This is a local attraction. Looking up from the flatlands, I saw the entire mountaintop a sea of pink.
Since I was just a tourist, I had to painstakingly make my way up the mountain on a rented electric-assisted bicycle. It was quite tiring, but thinking about how all the Japanese people along the way were driving while we were the only ones on bicycles, it felt a little funny... haha. But it proved to be worth the effort. I walked through the entire sea of flowers, bathed in its fragrance, and gazed upon the entire city of Ozu, which was bursting with beauty.
Every May, my family and I go to see the azaleas 🌺♪
The entire mountain is a park, and the scenery is wonderful❗️
This year it was during Golden Week, so there were tons of people and cars.
The azaleas were truly beautiful, and it made for a great memory🎵
This park is built around the summit of a 319-meter-high mountain called Tomisuyama, named because its shape resembles Mount Fuji when viewed from the city of Ozu. Incidentally, Tomisuyama is pronounced "Tomisuyama," not "Fujisan."
The park is covered in azaleas, making mid-April to early May the best time to visit. Just as Mount Fuji's summit is covered in white snow when viewed from the city, Tomisuyama is covered in pink and white flowers, creating a magnificent and beautiful sight.
There are several parking areas, but the western slope, with its limited parking, is more popular, so it's best to secure a spot early.
From the summit, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Ozu city, and the Hijikawa River sparkles beautifully, especially in the evening.
I took my grandchildren to play for the first time in a while. The swings were new and great for young children, but the roller slide they were looking forward to didn't seem to work because the rollers weren't turning, and the children who climbed up had a hard time getting down. I hope they'll improve the playground equipment.
Regarding the park, the swings and dragonfly playground equipment on the left side of the entrance were prohibited from use, but the other playground equipment seemed to be OK. It's a fairly large park and seems like a good place to bring children, but there was a warning sign at the entrance to the path to the peak on the other side of the park warning of wild boars, so it's probably best to be careful not to bring any food with you.
