Sapporo TV Tower

4.1 (200)Tourist AttractionObservation DeckPoint Of InterestEstablishment

Sapporo TV Tower is a significant landmark located in Sapporo. Built in 1957, this tower stands at the height of 147.2 meters (483 feet), making it a prominent feature in the city's skyline. It is situated at the eastern end of Odori Park, which is in the heart of Sapporo. The tower is not just for broadcasting TV and radio signals; it also has an observation deck. This deck is positioned at a height of 90.38 meters (about 296 feet) above ground and offers a 360-degree view of the surrounding city and its beautiful landscapes, including mountains in the distance.

The Sapporo TV Tower is known for its architectural design and the panoramic views it provides. Visitors can enjoy these views come rain, snow, or sunshine, making it a popular destination throughout the year. Besides the stunning vistas, the tower also features souvenir stalls, especially near the observation deck, allowing visitors to take a piece of their experience home with them. Despite being one of the more diminutive observation towers in Japan, its charm and the unique perspective it offers on Sapporo make it a must-visit spot for tourists and locals alike.

What other travelers are saying about Sapporo TV Tower

Better seen from outside than in, for only 1k yen! It's got the time if you do. Great landmark, looks cool at night. What more do you need? Shoot it from multiple angles at different times of the day to get the full tourist experience. Best vantage point is either from the park with the ravine running through it, or the lookout point in the middle of an overhead street crossing.

Ticket here cost 1000yen for splendid view of Sapporo city, easily reasonable price. If you think that’s expensive then you have an issue lol. Even coming to Hokkaido for second time, I still enjoyed leisure time up here. The view of Sapporo is a balance of city, mountains and nature, all together. Definitely a perfect spot to capture some time-lapse videos. Staffs here also very lovely along with souvenir shop of Hokkaido’s goods. You may find cute little gift to take home. What’s not to love about Sapporo TV tower?

It costs 1000¥ for an adult as of Jan 2025. The observation floor isn’t that big but it has a nice view. The windows could have been a little cleaner. The view from the lift was partly blocked by the stairs which was a pity. At night time, it is quite beautiful. There’s a small gift shop on the observation floor and a bigger one on the ticketing floor.

Like a mini Tokyo Tower giving a wonderful view of Sapporo city. As the city doesn’t have many tall buildings, despite the tower not being very tall, you are able to get a nice picture/view of Odori Park in the day/night.

It is really pretty during autumn, especially with the amber and red foliage around the park. At night, it will be lighted up, making it a perfect photo spot. For a small fee, you can make your way up the tower!
