What other travelers are saying about Toratarou Yoshimura's Residence
Great friendly family-owned business. I’ve been here maybe once a month since moving to Japan! Definitely worth the trip and many things to see nearby. Delicious udon, sweets and drinks!
Admission is free.
Friendly staff.
You get a stamp on your Ryoma Passport if you spend 500 yen or more on food, drink or purchases.
I was given a set of sweets and tea.
I was glad I could relax there.
They also serve udon and soba noodles, and if you make a reservation three days in advance, you can get a gozen meal.
I discovered this on the way to the Shikoku Karst! I stopped by. It seems to be a reconstruction, but it's wonderful. What's amazing about Kochi Prefecture is that there's a museum like this just by taking a little detour. Thank you, I enjoyed it!
I parked at the bottom, but there is a parking lot near the mansion. It was a hot day, but they gave me free tea 🍵. They were run by a married couple? They seemed to have drinks and snacks, but I spent my time looking at the posters. The interior was beautiful, and the veranda was cool. The toilets were also clean.
It was free to enter, there was free WiFi, and I was able to relax for a while.
They also had a calendar, and it was the same school as Sakamoto Ryoma and Takechi Hanpeita. He was two years older than Sakamoto Ryoma? He died at the age of 26, but it seems he was the first person to escape from the Tosa clan (lol). There are so many things I didn't know.
If you've come this far, this is a place you should stop by!
If you stop by Hayase's 1-Pan Bridge, you should stop by here too!
They also have tourist maps of the nearby area, and it was easy to find the way when I asked the owner.
The residence has made efforts to be accessible to all visitors, but due to its historic nature, some areas might have limited accessibility.
Photography policies can vary, so it is best to check with the staff upon arrival. Generally, non-flash photography is allowed, but some areas may have restrictions.
Yes, a parking lot is available for visitors wishing to drive. Parking is free, but spaces may be limited during peak times, so arriving early is recommended.
The residence is beautiful year-round, but many visitors enjoy the spring for cherry blossoms and autumn for vibrant fall foliage. Seasonal decorations and events also enhance the experience during these times.
