Nice architecture, but not much to see
The castle has attractive architecture and the surrounding park is pleasant and well maintained. However, there was not very much to see or do, and it is definitely not an attraction where you would spend several hours.
It is worth a short stop if you are already exploring central Toyama, but I would not plan a large part of the day around it. The park also feels quite new and landscaped rather than historic.
Very beautiful park, full with many beautiful trees, nice to walk around,
We came here in mid April and unfortunately the sakuras were long gone. However the castle is very scenic. We saw some nice tulips planted on the outside of the castle and took some nice photos here. The area was not touristy and was very quiet. We enjoyed the peace and breeze exploring around.
Although the weather was not good on the day I visited, however I still enjoyed quite a peaceful afternoon walk there. Just around 15mins walk from Toyama station, convenient location.
A very scenic area in the heart of Toyama. Definitely worth taking a stroll through just to unwind or take some pretty pictures.
There is also two museums, though I only visited one. One is a reconstruction of the old Toyama castle.
