White smoke drifted over the wall; I must have encountered the rice steaming and koji-making process when I passed by.
It's a historic brewery with over 200 years of history.
The brand label is "Zenigami" Yamada Nishiki Junmai Daiginjo. Sold only locally, it's definitely a must-buy souvenir! 😊
Located in the castle town that flourished under Otaki Castle, where Honda Tadakatsu was the lord, Toyonozuru Sake Brewery is the only sake brewery in Otaki. Founded during the Tenmei era (around 1781-1789), the brewery is committed to handcrafting sake.
On my way back from setting up the ETC system on a piano delivery truck, I was drawn in by a retro chimney.
I asked if they had any doburoku (unrefined sake), and they recommended a pink, cloudy one.
I was excited to drink it, as the unknown color was a mystery until then.
It had a refreshing acidity and was very delicious.
I thought the sense of anticipation, since you can't imagine what it will taste like from its appearance, was wonderful.
I thought I'd like to always keep a bottle in the refrigerator so I can surprise guests with it.
Toyonotsuru Sake Brewery is located at the foot of Otaki Castle in Chiba Prefecture.
Their pink cloudy sake is very popular.
It separates at first, but if you shake it...
It transforms into a beautiful pink sake.
With a moderate alcohol content of 10%, and a fresh taste that is slightly sweet and sour, it seems to be popular with women as well.
Give it a try!
I stopped by while on a tour.
There's parking for about five cars.
I thought the building along the road was a shop, but it turns out it's just a regular residential area lol.
The shop is just inside the parking lot.
The sales floor is small and the selection is limited,
but it was a brand I'd never seen locally, so I had high hopes.
Apparently, the flavor is primarily fruity.
While listening to the owner's explanation, I purchased a draft sake, but was told it was fine at room temperature.
The customer service was also great, as they explained everything clearly.
It would be even better if they offered a tasting.

I tried it.
It's super easy to drink.
It has absolutely no distinctive Japanese sake flavor. It's elegant and smooth, with no harsh aftertaste and a slight fruity taste. The aftertaste is great, too!
In my personal opinion, it tastes like a good white wine mixed with Dassai (lol).
I might recommend it for people who don't like sake but prefer wine (lol).
