I visited in mid-May. It was extremely hot, and there were tons of insects flying around, making it more of an adventure than a walk. However, I was soothed by the lush green trees, a different sight from autumn. The water was also very cold and refreshing. However, there are a lot of bees and other insects, so be careful in the summer. Also, there aren't many places to rest.
On the first day of November, it was still a little too early for the autumn leaves to change color. I think the best time to see them would be around mid-November. There are restaurants and drink establishments, and a beautiful toilet modelled after a cave.
I returned on November 22nd and the area was dyed bright red. The autumn leaves shining against the clear blue sky were very beautiful. There were many people there, and the restaurants were open, so I had grilled sweetfish skewers and a slightly spicy game meat curry made with wild boar and venison. Just beyond the suspension bridge, hydrangeas were blooming, out of season.
