How to spend the day in Shinsekai Area (Tsutenkaku Tower)
Shinsekai is one of Osaka’s most unique and colorful neighborhoods, known for its retro vibes, local street food, and the iconic Tsutenkaku Tower. If you're planning to explore this area, here's a full-day itinerary to help you enjoy your time to the fullest.

Take a Train to Dobutsuen-Mae Station or Ebisucho Station
The Shinsekai area is easy to reach by train and well-connected from major parts of Osaka.
Recommended Train Routes:
From Namba Station: Take the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line to Dobutsuen-Mae Station (about 5 minutes).
From Umeda Station: Take the Midosuji Line to Dobutsuen-Mae Station (about 15 minutes).
From Tennoji Station: Take the JR Loop Line or Midosuji Line to Dobutsuen-Mae Station or Ebisucho Station (5 minutes).
Traveler’s Tip: Once you arrive, use Exit 1 or Exit 5 at Dobutsuen-Mae or Exit 3 at Ebisucho for the easiest walk to Shinsekai.
Visit Tsutenkaku Tower

Tsutenkaku is the heart of Shinsekai. It’s a tower that looks like a mini Eiffel Tower and has been a symbol of Osaka since 1912.
What to Do:
✔ Take the elevator to the observation deck for a panoramic city view.
✔ Rub the feet of the Billiken statue for good luck.
✔ Visit the LED-lit night display if you’re staying until evening.
✔ Stop by the gift shop for Shinsekai-themed souvenirs.
Explore Shinsekai’s Retro Streets
After visiting the tower, walk around Shinsekai. The streets feel like stepping back in time. You’ll see colorful signs, game arcades, and lots of local food stalls.
What to Do:
✔ Play games at Jan-Jan Yokocho Arcade.
✔ Take pictures under the tower and near lanterns and signs.
✔ Try local snacks like takoyaki (octopus balls) or croquettes.
