How to Take a Day Trip to Minoh Park

Last updated 7/20/2025
Minoh Falls

Minoh Park (also spelled Minoo) is a peaceful nature escape just outside of Osaka, known for its beautiful forest trail, waterfall, and wild monkeys. It's a perfect day trip for anyone wanting to enjoy some fresh air and natural scenery without going far from the city.

Let’s explore how to spend a great day in Minoh Park!

Take a Train to Minoh Station

Minoh Park is easy to reach by train from Osaka, Kyoto, or Kobe.

Train Directions (from Osaka/Umeda area):

  • Take the Hankyu Takarazuka Line from Umeda Station.

  • Transfer at Ishibashi-handaimae Station to the Hankyu Minoh Line.

  • Get off at Minoh Station, the last stop.

Tip: The ride is not covered by the JR Pass (Hankyu is a private railway).

Start Your Walk Through Minoh Park

How to Take a Day Trip to Minoh Park
  • Walking Distance: About 2.7 km (1.7 miles) one-way to the waterfall

  • Time Needed: 40 minutes to 1 hour (one way), more if you take breaks

Once you arrive, follow the main walking path into the park. The trail to the waterfall is about 2.8 km one way, with a gentle slope. Along the way, you’ll pass small shops, traditional snack stalls, and temples. The area is peaceful and surrounded by tall trees.

What to Do on the Trail:

✔ Spot monkeys in the trees (don't feed them!)
✔ Visit Ryuanji Temple halfway along the trail
✔ Try momiji tempura (maple leaves deep-fried in sweet batter), a local snack
✔ Enjoy the sound of the river and forest as you walk
