What other travelers are saying about Furano Cheese Factory
[Dec 2025] Picturesque location. The building set amongst the trees, with snow falling about, presents a beautiful and peaceful scene. Happened to visit in the afternoon when there were busloads of tourists there too, so it was rather crowded and noisy inside. Looks like a popular stop for tour groups. Maybe the morning would have been quieter, so that the atmosphere inside can match the serenity outside.
The products they sell are good quality. The castella cheesecake was the right balance of fluffiness and creaminess, and flavourful.
If you have a bit of time, recommend to book in advance a cheesemaking workshop. Fun and relatively simple. They also have butter making and ice cream making workshops.
Visitors can enjoy a range of activities, including touring the cheese production facility, participating in cheese and butter-making workshops, tasting different types of cheeses, and shopping for dairy products and souvenirs in the factory shop.

Furano Cheese Factory is a lovely stop surrounded by beautiful snowy scenery, especially in winter. The building itself is charming, with a cozy wooden interior and large windows that look out onto a peaceful forest covered in snow.
Inside, you can enjoy freshly made cheese products, soft serve ice cream, and light meals. The cheese soft serve is a must-try — creamy, mildly sweet, and not too heavy. It’s perfect to enjoy while looking outside at the snowy landscape. The pizzas are also popular, made with local Furano cheese, and are served hot and fresh.
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Even when it’s busy, the space feels calm and comfortable, making it a great place to take a break from sightseeing. There are seating areas inside where you can sit by the window and enjoy the view, which makes the experience even more special.
This place is perfect for families, couples, or anyone who loves local food and beautiful nature. If you’re visiting Furano, especially during winter, Furano Cheese Factory is definitely worth a stop.
A place where you can experience ice cream and cheese making. However you do need 4 person to make ice cream so we opted for cheese making. Do reach the factory as early as opening time so that you can reserve the earliest slot for the experience. each session is about 40 mins. The place to book is at second floor shop counter. after the session you will take away you own made cheese with a custom sticker container. The instructor speaks little English but she tried her best to explain with some English written instructions. I like to mention that the shop sells cheese, milk and several cheese snacks. notably the cheese brulee is very nice which i recommend to try.
Great stop at Furano Cheese Factory! The Pizza Factory serves delicious, fresh pizza, especially the ones with local cheese and onions. Don't leave without trying the rich Cheese Soft Serve ice cream from the Ice Milk Factory. Highly recommended for a satisfying local meal and dessert!

Freshly made, delicious cheesy pizzas that you can watch being made. They also have nice gelato and cheeses that you can buy on the second floor. The cheese gelato was great.
There’s also a large open area outside the cheese factory that was filled with thick snow during winter and you can play there or build a snowman like we did.
Highly recommended if you are in the area!
