What other travelers are saying about Taito Game Station Shinjuku
Taito Station Shinjuku is a vibrant and high-energy arcade that offers a classic slice of Japanese gaming culture in the heart of the city. Spanning multiple floors, the arcade features everything from claw machines (UFO catchers) and rhythm games to retro titles and the latest video game releases. The space is clean, brightly lit, and well-maintained despite the high traffic, with each level catering to different gaming interests. Friendly staff are often available to assist with machines or explain how to play. Whether you’re there to win a plush toy, challenge friends in a game, or simply enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere, Taito Station delivers fun and excitement for gamers and casual visitors alike.
This is a game haven for those who love the claw machines like My daughter’s! Personally it was a bit too Loud and overwhelming for me so I went down to the bar area and waited it out in a relaxed atmosphere with a beer. Overall it was a win win!
If you are into claw and what they call metal games, this is the place. Like 4 floors of games and top is a photo sticker maker. Looks like it might be just for girls. Lots of action, games are between $100-400jpy. Claws are pretty weak, though. Few times I had a good scoop only to have it drop once it got to the top and shook. Lots to choose from, all kinds of stuffed animals, Manga, One Piece, Dragonball and apparently Tom and Jerry are still a thing here.
Had a good time here with the kids. Managed to quite a few toys, each walking away with 2/3 after an hour so.
Unpleasant experience with poor customer service and discrimination from the male staff called Yamamoto.
Firstly, the machine was suddenly out of order and could never be played again. I was asked my the staff to play the adjacent machine of which the claw was much softer.
I continued to spend my money until I ran out of coins. The I went to coin exchange machine. However the staff took away my prize and changed to another one to let another customer play when I was away for coin exchange. This was very unreasonable as the machine itself did not have “keep” function. I asked the staff and he said there was no other way if I ran out of coins and I could only queue up again. This is discrimination to those who are playing alone.
It was a better place before but now it turned to a place that only cheat tourist money
