Set off on the 8-kilometer hike from Tsumago to Magome. The trail climbs through cypress groves and switchbacks, passing rice fields, farmhouses, two waterfalls, and sections of original cobblestone road. A lunch break is taken at the waterfall stops along the route. A volunteer-run teahouse sits midway along the trail and is open for tea and a brief rest.
Non-hikers will have free time to explore Tsumago independently before the driver takes them directly to Magome by bus.
