Are you looking for something truly special to experience on your Japan travels? Look no further than our Full-Day Small-Group Kisoji Nakasendo Trail Tour! Not only do you get an English-speaking National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter to lead your journey, but they will show you everything there is to know about two post towns - Tsumago and Magome - during your tour.
Magome-juku is a restored Edo-period post town located along the historic Nakasendo Trail. It features cobblestone streets, traditional wooden buildings, local shops, and scenic mountain views.
Tsumago-juku is one of Japan’s best-preserved Edo-era post towns. Strict preservation rules maintain its historic atmosphere with no visible modern utilities.
The Nakasendo was a historic route connecting Kyoto and Edo (now Tokyo) during the Edo period. Today, sections between Magome and Tsumago are popular for scenic hiking.
The trail is approximately 8 km and typically takes 2.5–3 hours at a moderate pace.
The walk is considered easy to moderate. There are some inclines and uneven paths, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Yes, but participants should be comfortable walking several kilometers. Those who prefer not to hike can use public transportation between towns.
Comfortable walking shoes, water, weather-appropriate clothing, and cash (some small shops may not accept credit cards).
This was a fantastic adventure. Satomi was very organised, having all of our transport arranged and keeping us updated on our itinerary and where we needed to be. It made for a flawless day.
The tour itself was a mix of very reasonable short walks while exploring a range of scenery.

Beautiful day of nature and historic culture in Japan.
星5つ、強くお勧めします。5 stars, highest recomended. We did the one hour walk with our English speaking guide Aki (あき) Starting with a wander around Magome, taking a local bus and doing a 1 hour hike from the falls into Tsugawa-juku. Every part of it was a delight. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable of the area and to my benefit the local flora. We were there during the blooming of the cherries and the peaches with a large variety of spring flowers also.
