Takayama Old Town Walking Tour and Hida Folk Village

Begin your tour at Kamisannomachi, where you will explore Takayama’s historic old town and learn about its culture and heritage. Walk through traditional streets as your guide shares insights into the area’s history and local life.

Visit Nakabashi Bridge, a well-known landmark in Takayama. Take photos and enjoy views of the river and surrounding town.

Continue to Takayama Jinya, the only remaining government office of its kind from the Edo period in Japan. View the historic building from the outside and learn about its history. Admission to the interior is not included.

Visit Yamazakura Shrine to learn about traditional Takumi craftsmanship and aspects of Japanese religious practices. Enjoy the quiet surroundings and observe the details of the shrine.

Next, we'll visit the stunning Hida Kokubun-ji Temple, home to a massive Ginkgo tree with an incredible story. You'll also get to see the impressive Triple Tower and learn about the temple's rich history.

Our tour takes you through the charming streets of Sanmachi Suji, where you'll see more of the town's old township and experience its quaint and picturesque beauty.

The tour concludes at Hida Folk Village, where you can explore traditional houses and gain insight into life in the Hida Takayama region in the past.
