Hakuba47 Winter Sports Park opened in 1990 as the newest addition to the renowned Hakuba Valley ski resort collection in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. The resort's name originates from the concept of "4 seasons 7 days a week," reflecting its year-round recreational philosophy. Located in the shadow of Japan's Northern Alps, the resort has established itself as a premier destination for both skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts seeking world-class powder snow and innovative terrain features.

The resort holds particular significance within Japan's winter sports landscape as part of the greater Hakuba Valley, which gained international recognition during the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. Hakuba47 represents the modern evolution of Japanese ski resort development, combining traditional alpine beauty with contemporary snow sports facilities. The resort benefits from the unique geographical position of the Hakuba Valley, which receives exceptional snowfall due to moisture-laden winds from the Sea of Japan meeting the towering peaks of the Northern Alps.

Visitors can explore 23-24 trails across three distinct areas when purchasing the combined Hakuba47 and Hakuba Goryu lift pass. The signature R-1 trail stretches an impressive 2,500 meters, offering one of the longest continuous runs in the valley. The resort is particularly renowned for its extensive snow park featuring a comprehensive collection of terrain park items, making it a standout destination for freestyle skiers and snowboarders. Hakuba47 boasts one of the longest top-to-bottom ski seasons in the region, typically running from December through late April. The summit provides panoramic views of the surrounding 3,000-meter peaks of the Northern Alps, creating a spectacular backdrop for winter sports activities.

Transportation to Hakuba47 is accessible through multiple routes. The nearest major transportation hub is Hakuba Station, which connects to Tokyo via the JR Oito Line from Matsumoto. From Tokyo, visitors typically travel via the JR Chuo Line to Matsumoto, then transfer to the Oito Line. The resort is also reachable by direct bus services from major cities including Tokyo and Osaka.

Lift ticket prices include a 500-yen deposit for the durable plastic access card, which is fully refundable upon return at designated machines located at Hakuba47, Able Hakuba Goryu Escal Plaza, and Able Hakuba Goryu Iimori. The popular Hakuba Valley Pass provides access to all 10 ski resorts throughout the valley, with inter-resort shuttle service included. Children aged 5 and under, as well as visitors aged 80 and above, always ski free.

What other travelers are saying about Hakuba47 Winter Sports Park, Hakuba

Went on Dec 31st, 2025 & Jan 2nd, 2026. Great snow coverage, lifts are fast, staff helpful and efficient. Highly recommend buying ticket online and picking up at kiosk. I love that one ticket gives access to both Goryu (Escal plaza & Iimori) and 47. There’s also a shuttle running between the bases. A huge bonus is the onsen at Escal Plaza. Perfect after a day in the slopes.

First time snow boarding and it was great! This resort in my opinion is the best because one pass gets you to Goryu too so it’s a good deal. And throughout the period, it was the only resort open. We were supposed to go to Happo one resort too but it kept closing due to bad snow conditions. No idea why but Hakuba47 and Goryu were still open! In the end we managed to pick up snowboarding easily and comfortably and managed to go down a red slope at the end!

Really good ski zone compared to the other resorts available. Gives you some really long ski runs with decently quick chairlifts too. It's a good vibe they have with lines moving quickly during peak periods. A lot of coverage on the mountain, gives you a really good ability to track all over if you're an experienced snow boarder

Great mountain for beginner snowboarders, interlinked with two other resorts that are also very beginner friendly.

Great day especially if your there with fresh snow and confident enough to take of the tree zone areas. Must go in to the Alice restaurant to obtain a TRZ pass (500 yen) after watching a 8 min safety video. Great riding for beginners up to high intermediate. Can't speak above that cause im not advanced. Went on a weekend while snow with fresh pow and still wouldn't complain about lift lines.
