A very short (1.6 KM) canal that was built by landfill over the beach to be easier to move goods from inland to the cargo ships. Nowadays becomes the tourist attraction.
Highly recommend to purchase tickets before hand. The canal river tour will less about 40 minutes. Headset are provided with mamy languages by selecting the right channel.
It was a relaxing event and you can walk along the canal after work.
This canal is absolutely beautiful, especially in winter when it’s covered in snow — it really captures the atmosphere of the season. Many people gather here to take photos, but with a bit of patience, you can still find the perfect moment with a clear view.
Honestly, if you haven’t been here, it’s like you haven’t truly visited Otaru. It’s a lovely spot for a stroll, some great photos, and simply soaking in the vibe.
The canal itself is not that interesting. Too many people in a very small section of water. Maybe it’s prettier in the winter time.
I did enjoy walking around the old street, full of little shops and food selections.
Seafood is not cheapest but was fresh.
It's so beautiful. I feels this place is lika a European vibes, the building and others. I was coming here when cherry blossom time. Some tree was blooming. It's rainy that time so it's super cold because of the air. I really want to go here againnnn
This place probably looks very different during all 4 seasons. Coming during spring brings a different vibe but still as beautiful. Blessed by good weather and strong sunlight!
