京都銀閣寺

雨の日に参拝しましたが、さすが京都を代表する名刹、天候に関わらず多くの観光客で賑わっていました。 総門をくぐり、美しい銀閣寺垣の参道を抜けた先、中門の手前に「拝観受付（チケット売り場）」があります。 ここで拝観志納金を納めると、お札（拝観券）をいただけます。 中門をくぐってすぐ右手には「御朱印所」があり、先に御朱印帳を預けておいて、帰る際（拝観後）に受け取るスタイルになっていました。 混雑を避けるための合理的なシステムでありがたいです。 境内に入ると、まずは形が見事な立派な五葉松（樹齢500年とも言われています)が堂々と出迎えてくれて、一気に格調高い雰囲気に包まれます。 そこから順路に沿ってぐるりと庭園を見て回りますが、国宝の建物はもちろん、白い砂盛りの向月台、銀沙灘、そして雨に濡れて深みを増した緑の苔や池など、どこを切り取っても見所満載です。 気がつけば時間を忘れてじっくりと見入ってしまいました。 雨だからこそのしっとりとした「わびさび」の風情が素晴らしく、大満足の参拝になりました。

金閣寺の華やかさとは対照的に、銀閣寺（慈照寺）が湛える美しさは、日本人の心に深く根付く「わび・さび」の精神を象徴しており、訪れるたびにその奥深い静寂に心が洗われます。総門から中門へと続く高い生垣の道「銀閣寺垣」を歩む段階から、日常の喧騒が削ぎ落とされ、精神が研ぎ澄まされていくような感覚を覚えます。視界が開けた先に現れる観音殿（銀閣）は、派手な装飾こそありませんが、長い年月を経て木材が帯びた深い色合いと、計算し尽くされた簡素な造形が、えも言われぬ品格を漂わせています。月の光を反射させるために作られたと言われる、波紋を表現した砂盛り「銀沙灘」や、富士山を象った「向月台」の白砂は、周囲の深い緑や苔の絨毯と鮮やかな対比をなし、室町時代の文化人が追求した理想の美意識を今に伝えています。 順路に従って山裾の傾斜を活かした庭園を上っていくと、足元にはしっとりと露を帯びた多種多様な苔が広がり、まるで緑の宇宙のような静謐な空間に包まれます。展望所から見下ろす銀閣の屋根と、その向こうに広がる京都市街の景色は、時代を超えた時間の流れを感じさせてくれる最高の絶景です。派手さはありませんが、そこには「足りないことに満足を見出す」という究極の美学が息づいており、歩を進めるごとに自分自身と静かに向き合えるような感覚に陥ります。東求堂をはじめとする当時の建築様式は、現代の和室の原型とも言われ、私たちが無意識に落ち着きを感じる空間のルーツがここにあることを再確認させてくれます。四季折々の変化も素晴らしく、特に雪を頂いた銀閣や、雨に濡れて深みを増した苔の庭は、言葉では尽くせないほどの情緒があります。京都という街が持つ、静かで力強い精神性を肌で感じたいのであれば、銀閣寺ほどふさわしい場所はありません。 In stark contrast to the dazzling brilliance of the Golden Pavilion, Ginkaku-ji, known as the Silver Pavilion, offers a profound journey into the heart of Japanese aesthetics, specifically the concepts of "wabi-sabi"—finding beauty in imperfection and transience. The experience begins even before you see the main structure, as you walk through the towering hedges of the Ginkaku-ji-gaki entrance, which seems to strip away the noise of the modern world and prepare your mind for a state of Zen-like reflection. The pavilion itself, despite its name, is not covered in silver; instead, it showcases the natural, weathered textures of dark wood, exuding an understated elegance that has only deepened over the centuries. The meticulously maintained sand garden, featuring the "Ginshadan" (Sea of Silver Sand) and the cone-shaped "Kogetsudai" (Moon Viewing Platform), creates a surreal, monochromatic landscape that contrasts beautifully with the lush, green moss and the surrounding forest, reflecting the sophisticated cultural pursuits of the Muromachi period. As you follow the stone path that winds up the hillside, you are immersed in a world of vibrant mosses and ancient trees that seem to breathe with the mountain itself. Reaching the upper lookout point provides a breathtaking perspective, where you can gaze down upon the rustic rooftop of the pavilion set against the backdrop of the modern Kyoto cityscape—a powerful visual representation of the intersection between history and the present day. There is a quiet power in the simplicity of this temple; it does not demand your attention with flashes of gold, but rather invites you to find peace in its shadows and subtle details. The Togudo hall, considered one of the earliest examples of Shoin-style architecture, serves as a spiritual ancestor to the traditional Japanese rooms we know today, making the visit feel like a return to the cultural roots of Japan. Whether it is the serene atmosphere of a rainy afternoon or the crisp stillness of a winter morning, Ginkaku-ji offers a timeless sanctuary for those seeking a deeper, more contemplative experience. It is a place that reminds us that true beauty often lies in the quietest corners, making it an essential and soul-stirring destination for any traveler in Kyoto.

臨済宗相国寺の塔頭の一つ。入口すぐにある有名なお堂は観音堂。こちらが本堂と思ってました。 境内は、枯山水や池、小川、苔、松など、地形を生かした変化のある庭で、見ていて落ち着きました。 出口近くの売店横に、創建当時の色彩を復元したものがありました。

「銀閣寺」と呼ばれつつも銀箔はなく、究極の「わびさび」が広がる空間です！美しく整えられた白砂の「向月台」や「銀沙灘」は、光を浴びて静かに禅の心を伝えます。金閣寺の華やかさとは対照的に、渋い木造建築と緑の苔が調和し、見れば見るほど奥深い魅力に引き込まれる名刹です。

京都観光では有名な、銀閣寺。金閣寺や清水寺ほどきらびやかではないが、日本独特の侘び寂びを基調とした。風光明媚で落ち着いた仕上がりの建物の風景。朝早くの人が少ない時間だったので、静かに見れたのは嬉しい。寄るのがならば、是非とも同じ様な時間帯をお勧め。
